The ecological center La Rivera is a small biological reserve that consists of 5.5 hectares of land and where flora and fauna are protected since the year 1980.
Nowadays this forest shelters more than 125 species of identified plants and more than 50 species of animals living freely, among them thousands of butterflies of different varieties, turkeys, toucans, hummingbirds, raccoons, and some prehistorical plants.
The recreation areas were carefully designed to avoid the damage to the environment; and the name La Rivera was chosen because this place is located next to the bank of a river, which provides a great scenical beauty for the visitor since it is free of contamination. |
